“Melodiya” reissued a vinyl with a recording of the concert suite from the ballet “The Nutcracker” and Tchaikovsky’s Overture in F major performed by the USSR State Orchestra under the direction of Yevgeny Svetlanov.
The ballet score based on Hoffmann’s fairy tale “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” was written by P.I. Tchaikovsky in 1890 by order of the Directorate of the Imperial Theaters and the famous choreographer Marius Petipa. The premiere of the New Year’s “gingerbread” tale about the magical city of Confiturenburg took place on December 18, 1892 at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg.
The current reissue of the vinyl is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the first performance of the suite from “The Nutcracker” ballet. A New Year’s gift for Tchaikovsky lovers and Svetlanov’s fans was made at the Moscow plant “Ultra Production” according to the matrix prepared from the original master tapes.
