National seminar “Protection of authors’ and relative rights and collective management” was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic on 1-2 March, 2011. The event was organized by the State Intellectual Property Service of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the World Intellectual property Organization (WIPO). Cabinet members of Kyrgyzstan, international experts, representatives of IFRRO, Russian Authors’ Society (RAO), Russian Organization for Intellectual Property (VOIS), creative unions and media took part in the seminar. Deputy Director of VOIS – Mr. Erik Valdes-Martinez made a report on existing problems in intellectual property in Russia and activities of VOIS. Nowadays there isn’t any collective society managing the relative rights in Kyrgyzstan. However the Federal statute “About the authors’ and related rights” provides its foundation. Due to this, the exchange of experience is particularly important and interesting to Kyrgyz experts.
Mr. Erik Valdes Martinez made a settlement with Kyrgyz partners on sharing with them all data and materials of VOIS that will help in further collective management society on relative rights creation in Kyrgyz Republic.
