Nine albums released by Melodiya recording company were included in the long list of the prestigious International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). The winners of the Award will be announced on January 20, 2021.
Nine discs are the largest number of Melodiya nominated releases for the entire period of participation in the ICMA competition.
Among the new releases, the long list of awards included “Flowers and Fairy Tales” by Polina Osetinskaya and Elena Revich, “Fast Movement” by Dmitry Masleev, and “Paganini and Koshkin” by Artyom Dervoed. The archival recordings on the long list include “Beethoven: All Sonatas for Piano / Live. Tatiana Nikolaeva”, “Alfred Schnittke. Collection / Anniversary Edition”, “Rudolf Barshai. Collection / Anniversary Edition”, “Concert of Evgeny Kisin / Live, 1985”, “Nikolay Karetnikov. Symphony No. 4”, “Dmitry Kitayenko. Collection / Anniversary Edition”.
In total, 365 releases were nominated for the Award in 2020. Finalists will be announced on December 15, and winners on January 20, 2021. The Awards Ceremony is scheduled for April 18 in the Liechtenstein capital Vaduz.
Melodiya recordings have received ICMA Award numerous times. Last year a collection of recordings by Mieczyslaw Weinberg received “The Best Collection” Award.
ICMA is one of the most prestigious awards for achievements in recording and performing arts.
