The Melodiya Recording Company presented the album “Paganini and Koshkin” by guitarist Artem Dervoed.

According to the press service, the album combines a four-part concert for the guitar and Megaron string orchestra by Nikita Koshkin, and the Grand Sonata by Niccolo Paganini in Koshkin’s transcription for the quartet.

The Grand Sonata by Niccolo Paganini was originally written for guitar and violin. Nikita Koshkin chose the Paganini quartet for transcription: guitar, violin, viola and cello, the press service explained. Artists of the famous chamber orchestra “Moscow Virtuosos” Alexey Lundin, Kirill Semenovykh and Daniil Shavyrin took part in the recording of the quartet.

Dervoed is a laureate of 36 prestigious Russian and international competitions. He also collaborated with Mikhail Pletnev and the Russian National Orchestra, became the first Russian artist to whom the modern Chinese composer, winner of the Oscar and Grammy awards, Tan Dong entrusted the arrangement of the guitar for his composition.

Koshkin became famous as a composer in the 1980s, when his compositions “broke” the generally accepted notions of a classical guitar driven into the narrow framework of Spanish-Gypsy traditions, the press service noted. In his music, he widely uses expressive means with the aim of returning to the guitar the appearance of a classical instrument capable of arising with the listener of the whole spectrum of emotions, images, moods of academic musical art.
